Homeowner Terms
Agreement and eligibility
These terms govern homeowner use of TopCrew. You must be at least 18 and provide accurate account and job information. Businesses use the Terms of Service.
Independent contractors
TopCrew provides matching, communication, records, and payment tools. Pros are independent businesses, not our employees or agents. Your work agreement is with the pro. TopCrew does not perform, supervise, inspect, or guarantee the work, price, materials, or schedule. License information is self-reported. An insurance badge reflects reviewed paperwork, not verification that coverage remains in force. We do not run background checks. Check credentials, insurance, and the contract before hiring.
Contracts, payments, and problems
Agree on scope, price, payment stages, and exclusions with your pro. Obtain any written contract required by your state. Job payments go directly to the pro through Stripe; TopCrew does not hold them in escrow or take a job fee. Deposits are charged at contract signing and the balance at sign-off. Report a problem before signing off and seek resolution with the pro. Your statutory cancellation, consumer protection, and card dispute rights remain available.
Conduct, records, and privacy
Do not harass others or submit false jobs, reviews, payments, or sign-offs. Job records and certificates are not inspections or guarantees of quality or compliance. Shared verification and payment links may expose job information to others; share carefully. Job messages follow the Messaging Terms. Data handling and your privacy rights are described in the Privacy Policy. Request access or deletion through the privacy request form or privacy@topcrew.ai.
Where our responsibility ends
The platform is provided as is. Because we do not do the work, we are not responsible for the work: not for damage to your property, not for injury, not for a job done badly, late, or not at all, and not for anything a pro says or does. Those claims are against the pro. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for our own fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for anything the law does not allow us to limit.
For anything we are responsible for, our total liability to you is capped at $500. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Some states do not allow these limits, and where that is the case they apply to the smallest extent the law allows. This does not affect your rights under consumer protection law.
Disputes with us
Talk to us first: email hello@topcrew.ai and give us 30 days to fix it. Most things end there.
If it doesn't, you and TopCrew agree that any dispute between us will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, in the county where you live or by phone or video if you prefer, and not in a court before a judge or jury. You and TopCrew each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to bring or join a class action or class arbitration against the other.
Two things you keep. Either of us can still bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies. And you can opt out of this arbitration agreement entirely by emailing hello@topcrew.ai with the subject "arbitration opt-out" within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms. Opting out costs you nothing and changes nothing else about your account.
This section is about disputes with TopCrew. It does not cover your claims against a pro.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Illinois, without displacing the consumer protection laws of the state you live in. Anything not going to arbitration is heard in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect and post the new version here with a new date. If you keep using TopCrew after that, the new terms apply. If you would rather not, close your account and nothing further is owed.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time. Closing it does not cancel existing job agreements or payment obligations. We may close accounts that violate these terms and will tell you why.
